We need you for the position of 

Purchaser

The Job 

As a Purchaser at Septentrio, you manage end-to-end purchasing activities in line with our global supply chain processes. Your goal is to ensure the availability of high-quality components for production while securing the best total cost of ownership and maintaining strong supplier performance.

Your Mission

Operational Purchasing

You manage purchasing operations to support production and customer deliveries.

• Execute and manage purchase orders, confirmations, and order adjustments.
• Monitor parts availability, maintain optimal inventory levels, and proactively address supply issues that could impact production or deliveries.
• Coordinate supplier pre-payments and resolve payment-related issues when required.
• Support internal stakeholders in the purchasing process and ensure smooth collaboration across departments.

Supplier Management

You build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure performance and reliability.

• Manage relationships with key suppliers, including organizing and leading regular supplier business reviews.
• Monitor supplier performance in terms of quality, delivery, and cost.
• Handle supplier non-conformities and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Prepare and communicate supplier performance scorecards.

Data & Systems

You ensure accurate procurement data and effective use of purchasing systems.

• Maintain supplier, procurement, and supply chain data in our SAP MRP system.
• Manage the preferred supplier list for your assigned commodities.
• Monitor commodity market trends relevant to your purchasing categories.

Strategic Sourcing & Continuous Improvement

You contribute to the ongoing optimization of our supply chain and sourcing strategy.

• Lead RFx processes (RFI/RFQ), perform supplier benchmarking, and identify sourcing opportunities within your assigned commodities.
• Participate in or lead supply chain improvement initiatives focused on:
• cost optimization
• process efficiency
• service level improvement
• optimized inventory management.

Your Qualifications

• You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field, with interest in technical purchasing.
• You have 3 to 5 years of experience in purchasing in a technical or manufacturing environment.
• You have a clear understanding of supply chain, logistics, and manufacturing processes.
• You are familiar with ERP/MRP systems (preferably SAP) and comfortable using Microsoft Office tools. Experience with JIRA or Confluence is a plus.
• You are fluent in English. Knowledge of Dutch and/or French is an asset or you are willing to learn.
• Available for occasional business trips. 
• You are a proactive and structured professional with strong communication and negotiation skills.
• You work well independently and in cross-functional teams, with a customer-focused and solution-oriented mindset.
